About the Project
As legal professionals and advocates, we’ve seen that many young people are unsure of how to act when they encounter legal challenges. To address this, we’ve launched Project Lex Nexus across several fronts. We’ve started peer-led forums and paralegal training sessions for youth leaders and advocates.
We introduced ‘Gamifying the Legal Process’, an immersive simulation of legal scenarios where participants can apply what they’ve learned from the program sessions. Alongside this, we kicked off ‘Lex Illuminare’, a digital campaign that shares useful legal content online. All of this is aimed at building confidence and real-world understanding of the Philippine legal system.

Why do you care about this specific topic/issue?
We’ve seen how hard it is for young people, especially those from low-income groups, to understand and navigate legal processes. Even when they know something is wrong, they are often unsure of what steps to take. That sense of helplessness stuck with us.
We believe everyone should have access to legal knowledge. There has to be a conscious effort to bridge individuals’ knowledge gaps and the law. That’s why we’re focused on breaking down barriers and helping young Filipinos gain the tools they need to speak up, take action, and support others in doing the same.
Why did you decide to start this project?

We realized that even as legal professionals, applying what we know about the law to real situations was not easy. If it’s challenging for us, it’s even harder for those without any legal background. That gap pushed us to start Project Lex Nexus.
We wanted to create something practical, something that helps the youth not only understand basic legal concepts but also feel confident applying them when it matters most.
What are your goals for this project?
Our goal is to help young people build a clear understanding of how the legal system works in everyday situations. We focus on teaching them how to spot legal issues, understand available options, and know where to seek help.
Beyond that, we hope they’ll use this knowledge to support others, start conversations, and grow into resourceful paralegals who can make legal remedies more available for everyone.
How will YSEALI Seeds help you achieve your goals?
YSEALI Seeds gave us the support we needed to turn our idea into action. With their help, we’ve developed strong training modules, launched the Lex Nexus digital campaign, and prepared for in-person workshops.
More than funding, being part of YSEALI has opened doors. It gave our team added credibility and helped us connect with partners, speakers, and other youth-led organizations across the region. That kind of visibility and recognition has made it easier to move forward with confidence and purpose.
What have you accomplished and implemented so far?

We’ve made strong progress in laying the groundwork for Project Lex Nexus. Our digital campaign, Lex Nexus, is now live and has reached over 800 followers by simplifying legal topics for the public. We’ve also completed our training modules and developed Gamifying the Legal Process, an interactive simulation based on real legal situations.
To make the content more relatable, we invited non-law students to help shape the materials. These components are now set for rollout in our upcoming workshops with students and advocates.
What are the most significant lessons learned you’ve experienced so far?
We’ve learned that making legal education work for youth means keeping it clear, relatable, and engaging. When the content feels relevant and interactive, young people respond with real curiosity. Involving the youth in the creation process also makes the learning experience stronger through peer connection. At the same time, we’ve seen how important it is to have legal professionals guide the process to keep the content accurate and build trust with participants.
What are the success stories you can share with others?
One early success came from the strong ownership shown by our youth volunteers, many of whom have no legal background. But they helped shape our training modules and brought fresh ideas on how to make the content easier to understand. Their energy and curiosity have been a reminder that legal education becomes more approachable when it’s shaped by the same people it’s meant to reach. This kind of peer-driven effort shows real promise for bringing about significant long-term improvements at the local level.
